Dunedin Netball have announced a young and exciting team to participate in this year’s Netball New Zealand National Championship.
Although young, the team is far from inexperienced with 7 of the 12 players having participated in either the under 19 or under 23 Netball New Zealand age group championships in July this year where both teams finished runner up in their respective age groups.
Head coach Deb Tasi-Cordtz is thrilled with the team selection and pleased with the efforts of players at trials held last night at the Edgar Centre. “It was a very competitive selection process, all players have been playing superb club and age group netball and it is a nice reward for these 12 players and an exciting opportunity for them all” said Tasi-Cordtz.
Tasi-Cordtz is no stranger to the Dunedin coaching scene having coached the previously named Otago NPC team for 3 years.
Dunedin Netball are pleased to have a full management team involved in this year’s campaign with head coach Tasi-Cordtz assisted by Nicki Paterson. Apprentice coach Karen Meatherall from North Otago will observe all team trainings and games and benefit from the Netball New Zealand Apprentice Coach programme, learning valuable skills and methods to help in her personal coaching development.
“One of our key deliverable priorities in 2015 is to support coach development in our Dunedin centre. Having experience on our coaching team and opportunities for development during this campaign is an exciting prospect for both coaches and players and we are pleased to be able to support this team management group” said Dunedin Netball General Manager Lee-Anne Anderson.
The Netball New Zealand National Championships will be held in Wellington from 28 September to 2 October.
