Hard Working Dunedin Netballers Named in National Teams

This December a high number of Dunedin netballers have attained positions in national netball teams.

From Silver Ferns trials Shannon Francois, Gina Crampton and Storm Purvis were selected in the Silver Fern team of 14. This is the first time Gina and Storm have been selected in the Silver Ferns. Te Paea Selby-Rickit was named in the NZ Development Squad.

From National U21 trials three of the four Dunedin players selected made the team, Jennifer O'Connell, Sophie Erwood and Jamie Hume. These girls make up 3/4 of the shooters in the team which is an awesome reflection of the shooting talent coming through in Dunedin. Abbey Erwood was unlucky not to be named in the team of 12, with very strong competition for the defensive end and only three defenders being selected.

The National U21 team play the Cook Island's National team in a two test series in Rarotonga starting today the 15th of December. The Silver Ferns next test is not until August which gives more time to build into.

Dunedin Netball are extremly proud of the achievements of the young women listed above, particularly given they are all very hard workers.
