DUNEDIN NETBALL GAME DAY APP

All games are scored on the Dunedin Netball Game Day App. Make sure you have the game day app downloaded, log in and have the scorer code for your team before arriving on Saturday. Scorer codes change each year, so even if you scored last year you will need a new team code in 2024. Make sure a scorer from each team stands together on the sideline, this prevents any issues with discrepancies in the score.

Team sheets must be completed by all Premier and Senior teams prior to the game commencing. Player changes must be made in the app and positions allocated to players. If positions are not allocated nor changes made, the game will not count against the players name as taking the court and no minutes played for that game.

Where bench officials are provided for a game, the Team List shall be selected and made available through the Game Day App at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled game start time.

WORLD NETBALL RULES UPDATE 2024

Prioritising player safety, World Netball launched the Rules of Netball 2024 Edition, along with free educational rules resources. The 2024 Updates to the Rules of Netball come into effect at the Dunedin Netball Centre for this season.

The rules changes focus specifically on player safety and game management along with clarification and streamlining of existing rules such as contact and advantage. The layout of the Rules has also been updated to simplify and encourage use by everyone in netball, not just umpires.

World Netball has created some helpful videos and resources explaining the updates. Both the explainer videos and PDF versions of the new rules are on our website, take the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the new rules.

COMPULSORY PLAYER UMPIRE TEST

Player umpires are essential to making netball happen in our centre. Remember to check the umpire draw each week and have your team umpires sign in at the control room.
Game in Action” is a requirement for all Premier Competition, Senior Competition and Premier Secondary Schools Competition players. Each player appearing on a Team Register of a team entered in these grades must (unless that player holds a current Netball New Zealand (“NNZ”) umpiring qualification) annually pass the online Dunedin Netball player umpire test prior to completion of Round 1 of the Local Competition. Failure to complete “Game in Action” requirements is an offence and subject to a penalty as set out in Regulation 48. Complete the online theory test now

SPECIFIC INFORMATION RELEVANT TO DUNEDIN NETBALL REGULATIONS, GAME RULES AND NEW RULES OF WORLD NETBALL 2024

Timing of Games

  • Individually Timed Games: All Premier Grades (A,B and C) and Men’s will be individually timed games. These games will be timed by either bench officials, umpires, scorers or timekeeper controlling either the electronic scoreboard or timer clock from the control room. This will be decided by the umpires prior to the start of the game.
  • Centrally Timed Games: All Senior and Secondary School grade games are deemed centrally timed games and operate on the centre buzzer. The game day app timer or an umpire watch may only be used if two qualified white named umpires are in control of the game. This will be decided by the umpires prior to the start of the game.

Tactical Changes

  • NO tactical changes may be made in any grade in the last minute of any quarter
  • In individually timed games, time will be held for the tactical changes. This will not be possible in centrally timed games, but teams will still need to complete changes efficiently so that they’re not penalised for delay.

Game Management

  • Any player warned, suspended or sent off MUST be recorded in the comments section on the game day app BEFORE the score is submitted. The player’s name and quarter in which the sanction happened need to be noted. If for any reason this cannot be noted, the control room must be informed and information given to them.

Casual Players

  • At least one hour prior to the scheduled game time, on game day or any day prior to game day, a casual player must complete a player registration form
Click here for the Player Registration page
  • Team captain/team official must contact DN control room prior to selecting the team in the Game Day App so the casual player can be assigned to the team – at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled game time.
