Week two of netball did not disappoint! Not only did we have some great skills on display in the Southern Magpies vs Physed B game, Physed B marked up a very respectable score, and a tough in house battle between the Albion A and B's.
And for the first week of the Men playing the women, there were some great challenges out on court.
Physed A pulled through by 3 over Markham's College Men Green (the younger Men's team) after a great fightback from the Men after being down by 14 at halftime. Even though the Men upped their game, Physed A gritted through, scoring some clutch goals and putting some top defensive pressure on to gain turnovers.
In the other Men's Competition game, Markham's College Men Blue came out trumps over South Pacific Titans A. South Pac won the first and third quarters 13-11 and 17-13, with some awesome defence and turnovers from the D's, along with a patient attacking line. The Men's team showed their experience, exemplified by accuracy in their shooting circle, Dore shooting at 93% and his partner in crime, McNab netting 85%, and crucially outscoring South Pac's score by almost double in the second and fourth quarters.

Magpies fly away from Physed
Southern Magpies flew away early in their confident 62-42 win over Phys Ed B on Saturday.
They stamped their mark on the game, scoring five unanswered goals in the first three minutes.
Southern captain and goal keep Tarryn Dickson wore Phys Ed goal shoot Maggie Burns like a glove, pushing her to the top of the circle and forcing the long shot.
Phys Ed wing attack Hannah Cooke threaded the needle with her outstanding feeds into Burns, but they came far and few between, due to Dickson’s dominance.
Southern went into the first quarter up 19-8 and rang the changes.
Dickson linked up with goal defence Jessica Dermody and wing defence Lauren Pickett.
The defensive trio worked in unison, picking up tips from one another and forcing wide feeds through a strong middle channel zone.
Zoey Flockton slotted across the court from wing attack into goal attack, playing a feeding roll into goal shoot Katherine Morris.
Morris had a strong hold at the back for Southern, forcing Phys Ed to change its goal keep three times during the game, to try to stop the feeds.
Phys Ed stuck the nail in the coffin for itself with basic errors of stepping, offside and breaking that meant it trailed 32-16 at halftime.
Later in the day, University Albion A beat University Albion B 63-38. Albion A goal shoot Bethany Roberston teamed up beautifully with goal attack Danya Price, creating a mobile shooting circle.
Albion A held a strong lead throughout the entire game and was comfortably ahead midway through the third quarter 42-23.
Goal defence Kaitlyn Cocker-Valu caused havoc for Albion B’s attack line ripping in intercepts from everywhere.
Inaccurate passes into space and not moving into the ball let down Albion B, which meant the club’s top side snatched the win from it. St Hilda’s Collegiate School v South Pacific A and Phys Ed A v Markham’s College A games were both rescheduled until early net month.
