NZ Masters Games Netball Competition 2026

The Games

The New Zealand Masters Games is the largest multi-sport event in New Zealand. Every second year it is held in Dunedin, and 2026 is the year it returns to our city. The 2026 New Zealand Masters Games will be held in Ōtepoti Dunedin from the 31st of January to the 8th of February 2026.

The games has opening and closing ceremonies, and an incredibly entertaining games village.

Netball​​​​​​​

In our sport netball, we pride ourselves on offering sections to fit all, from open competitive to social grades there is an option for you. 

This is your chance to compete with your friends, make new friends and memories, and compete to claim a bronze, silver or gold NATIONAL medal!

In 2026 both Netball and Walking Netball will be held at the Edgar Centre

  • Netball will be played at the Edgar Centre, 116 Portsmouth Drive, Friday 6 - Sunday 8 February 2026.
  • Walking Netball will also be played at the Edgar Centre, Saturday 7 - Sunday 8 February 2026

Fees: $65.00 per person Masters Games Entry Fee (Early Bird Entry before 27 November 2025 is $70, Standard Entry between 28 November 2025 and 15 January 2026 $100, Final Entry from 16 January 2026 $130).

Date: 

Friday 6 - Sunday 8 February 2026

Times: 

Friday 6th - 12pm - 5pm

Saturday 7th - 10am - 5pm

Sunday 8th - 10am - 3pm

Minimum Age:

26+ for Mixed events.

30+ for Women only events.

As at first day of competition. 

Events:

Women: 

  • Competitive: 30-39, 40-49, 50-59.
  • Social: 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

Mixed:

  • Competitive:  26+

Grades:

  • Competitive: Open to current and regular competition players – these players must enter this grade.
  • Social: Open to all social and non-players.

Notes:

  • A player can only enter in one team. Organisers reserve the right to re-grade teams and/or merge age groups.
  • A team has 10 players maximum. 
  • Each team must provide a non-playing umpire. A $450 fee will be charged to teams that fail to provide a non-playing umpire when registering, payable prior to the start of the competition. Umpire name and qualification is required. Umpires will umpire their own team games.

  • All games will be played inside at the Edgar Centre on Friday 6, Saturday 7, Sunday 8 February.
  • Teams will play a minimum of 4 games with competition formats to be determined by final entries in each grade.
  • One player per team is able to apply for an age dispensation to play up a grade. The player must be within 12 months of the eligible age grade as at the start of the competition.
  • The Fancy Dress Parade is one of the fun activities held at the start of the Netball competition and the theme is “Beach Party”.  All teams are invited to take part in the traditional fancy dress parade/skit.  Be creative!

WALKING NETBALL

Fees: $50.00 per person Masters Games Entry Fee (Early Bird Entry before 27 November 2025 is $70, Standard Entry between 28 November 2025 and 15 January 2026 $100, Final Entry from 16 January 2026 $130).

Saturday 7th - 10am - 5pm

Sunday 8th - 10am - 3pm

Minimum Age:

30+ women as at first day of competition

Events:

Women 7 a-side 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+

Notes:

  • Team Numbers: 7 minimum, 10 maximum
  • All games will be played inside at the Edgar Centre on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 February

  • Teams will play a minimum of 3 games with competition formats to be determined by final entries in each grade.

  • Teams will be placed in the age group of the AVERAGE player
  • A player can only enter in one team. Organisers reserve the right to re-grade teams and/or merge age groups
